Monterey, CA

The 24,000 SF Student Services Center for Monterey Peninsula College centralizes several diverse programs scattered across the campus, including Financial Aid, Developmental Disabilities Support, Registration, and Academic Offices. Program, budget, and environmental impact influenced the design, which is open and accessible, clearly organized, and inviting to users. The L-shaped plan places core functions toward each end of the L, with a courtyard at the elbow. Open walkways spanning the building's length serve as the main circulation spine.

Our firms design engineers developed a low maintenance, minimalistic, low energy design by implementing natural ventilation coupled with mechanical operable windows.. Heating and minimal cooling  is provided by radiant floor system. The project was designed to a LEED Gold standard.
