Salinas CA

Every day, our planet wakes with more than 200,000 additional mouths to feed and more farmland lost to erosion. Many people who produce the world‘s food are living in poverty, while biodiversity is disappearing fast. We have a plan to meet these challenges: The Good Growth Plan. Its mission is to improve the sustainability of agriculture and our business by 2020.

Syngenta is a global leader at providing essential inputs to growers: crop protection, seeds, seed treatments and traits. They believe in delivering better food for a better world through outstanding crop solutions. The company are devoted to helping growers do more with less. Their goal is to be the leading global provider of innovative products for every step of the agronomic process and to understand their interplay and optimize the results for growers and the food chain.

Our sustainable design team were hired to develop a sustainable concept for their horticultural research facility in Salinas CA. Bio-digestion, onsite photovoltaic farm, and water recycling were key to achieving a NZE, NZC and NZW for the campus. Rainwater harvesting was also implemented to assist in the water use equation.
